The Rede Angoleira de Mulheres (RAM, "Angoleira Women's Network"), also referred to as Rede Angoleira Mulher, is an informal international network of women Capoeira Angola practitioners, formed to foster dialogue, solidarity, and visibility for angoleiras around the world.
According to academic research on feminism in capoeira, RAM emerged from an international articulation of women angoleiras beginning in the early 2000s. A documented milestone is the 20th Women's Conference of the International Capoeira Angola Foundation (FICA), held in Washington, D.C. (USA) in 2017, when a new WhatsApp communication space for the network ("RAM – Rede Angoleira Mulher") was activated. In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, that WhatsApp group was used by two capoeiristas — one based in Spain, the other in Brazil — to compile and circulate a list of female Capoeira Angola masters (23 mestras identified in that initial compilation; another source cites an RAM survey putting the count at 26 mestras). The network currently brings together roughly 200 angoleira leaders across 17 countries (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, United States, Japan, Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Finland, Guinea, Kosovo, and the Vatican). RAM is listed among the partner networks of the Instituto Nzinga de Estudos da Capoeira Angola e de Tradições Educativas Banto no Brasil (INCAB), the organization co-founded by Mestra Janja.
